Engineering the Next Generation of Sound Barrier Systems

Traditional sound barriers were designed to do one thing: block noise. Bio-Stone20® Sound Barrier Walls were engineered to do much more.

Developed through more than two decades of research, testing, and material innovation, BioStone20 combines advanced bioactive ceramic technology with a high-performance composite structural system to create one of the most durable, sustainable, and environmentally beneficial sound barrier solutions available today.

Every component has been carefully selected and engineered to deliver exceptional structural strength, long-term durability, superior aesthetics, and environmental performance—all while simplifying installation and reducing lifetime maintenance costs.

More Than a Wall

A Complete Engineered System

Unlike conventional concrete barriers, Bio-Stone20 is a fully integrated composite system where every layer serves a specific purpose. Together, these components create a lightweight yet incredibly strong barrier capable of protecting communities and infrastructure for decades.

Bio-Stone20® Exterior Surface

The outer layer is manufactured from Bio-Stone20, an advanced engineered ceramic created from proprietary recycled stone composites. Through specialized bioactive treatments, the surface actively contributes to cleaner environments while delivering exceptional durability.

Performance Benefits

● Bioactive technology

● Antimicrobial surface

● Self-cleaning properties

● Pollutant reduction

● Graffiti resistance

● UV stability

● Extremely low water absorption

● Exceptional color retention

Honeycomb Aluminum Structural Core

At the heart of every panel is a light weight, strong but flexible honeycomb aluminum frame that allows maximum absorption while providing the same long-term resilient strength of the San Francisco bridge. At a twenty-gauge metal strength, the aluminum reduces the weight of each panel, and ensures easy handling during shipping and installation.

The interior figure four design, utilizes the flexible honeycomb material to compartmentalize the best design possible for both weight distribution and impact absorption. The structure tolerates load and impact capacity to evenly distributes sound decibels inside the hollow center that retard the intensity in sound vibration. Material and design allow the wall to achieve results and durable strength without excessive mass and heavy weight.

Benefits

● Lightweight construction

● High structural flexibility

● Excellent dimensional stability

● Corrosion resistance

● Simplified transportation and installation

Moisture Protection System

Each panel incorporates an 8-mil Visqueen moisture barrier that acts as an internal gasket, preventing water intrusion while protecting the integrity of the composite system.

This additional layer enhances long-term durability in demanding environmental conditions

Precision
Steel
Framing

Each panel contains two outer belts of coated galvanized steel wrapped on the outer frame to add protection to the long-term connectivity of the honeycomb aluminum from. The belts are oneinch strips, and do not disrupt compression during the sound absorption process.

Panels interlock securely between engineered steel H-posts that are fastened to the ground, and erected before panels are installed. For easy assembly, the H post steel beams create a tongueand-groove system that allows panels to rapidly slide in the install position, without readjusting the permanent posts.

Industrial Bonding Technology

All components are permanently joined using advanced Mapei industrial adhesives, creating a unified composite panel engineered to perform as a single structural element.

This high-performance bonding system provides exceptional impact resistance while maintaining structural integrity under extreme weather conditions.

How Bioactive Technology Works

Bio-Stone20 does more than resist dirt and contamination.

The entire outer layer of each panel is made of Bio-Stone. The purpose of the wall assembly will dictate if Bio-Stone20 or Bio-Stone10 is use as the outer shell of the panel. These proprietary bioactive surfaces actively interact with the surrounding environment to reduce pollutants. The Bio-Stone10 is a thinner and more dense material for communities that need greater absorption and higher levels of protection.

When exposed to sunlight and moisture, the surface supports natural processes that help break down airborne contaminants and organic buildup.

The result is a cleaner wall, lower maintenance requirements, and a material that contributes to healthier public spaces throughout its service life.

Built to Perform Where It Matters Most

Bio-Stone20 Sound Barrier Walls are engineered for both existing and new construction projects that require exceptional protections from continuous exposure to weather, traffic, vibration, noise, and vandalism.

Whether protecting a data center, transportation corridor, utility facility, or industrial campus, the system is designed to maintain its performance year after year.

Engineered Performance

● Wind resistance exceeding 100 mph
● Waterproof composite construction
● Graffiti-resistant exterior
● Impact-resistant design
● Corrosion-resistant framing
● UV-resistant surface
● Low maintenance requirements
● Long service life

Smarter Construction from the Ground Up

Every Bio-Stone20 panel is designed with installation efficiency in mind.

The lightweight composite construction allows panels to be prefabricated in a controlled manufacturing environment or assembled on-site, depending on project requirements and site accessibility. Precision-engineered tongue-and-groove connections simplify installation while ensuring consistent alignment and structural integrity.

Panels can be delivered ready for crane installation or assembled in the field, giving contractors the flexibility to adapt to virtually any project environment.

Installation Advantages

● Factory or field assembly

● Modular construction

● Lightweight composite panels

● Reduced installation time

● Flexible transportation options

● Adaptable to varying terrain

● Simplified replacement of individual sections if required
